Stampin' Queen's Sketch Challenge 6 Vintage Stampin' Up! Countryside

I've actually owned the Countryside stamp set for at least a year and this is my first time playing with this set.  My original thought for buying this set was that I could really see using this set to create masculine adult cards especially as my dad loves vintage cars.  Well, when I started this card I was hoping the "truck" design in this set would work but after playing with it for a while I scrapped that idea (but I still have the "truck" to use on a different card so watch for it in the near future!

Another stamp set that I really like but struggle to use is the Notably Ornate stamp set.  As I started to assemble this card based on the sketch below, I knew I wanted to use this set.  I really felt it would work well as the "sentiment" element of this sketch.  I also created another 6×6 card in order to give me "more space" to work with since I was using a large area of space for the sentiment.  So, I hope you enjoy my interpretation of SQSC6!

As I was planning for this card, I knew I wanted to start with one of my favorite new in-colors which is Pool Party.  The base of my card starts with 12×12 Pool Party Textured cardstock.  For the three strips, I used various patterns from the Spice Cake Designer Series Paper which I layered on a piece of Naturals Ivory cardstock and attached it to the 6×6 Pool Party card base.  I then took the Crumb Cake 1/2" Seam Binding Ribbon which I "ruched" or gathered to create a nice element of interest.  Using the Notably Ornate stamp set I stamped the "delicate" frame design using Soft Suede, tore around the stamped image and sponged it with Soft Suede ink then attached it to the card at an angle using dimensionals. 

The Countryside stamp set image I used is of the "vintage" water pump.  To ink the stamp, I used my Stampin' Write Markers then "huffed" on my stamp to remoistened the ink before quickly stamping the image onto a piece of Naturals Ivory cardstock which was then cut out and attached to a piece of More Mustard Textured cardstock with the upper right corner being curled.  The actual sentiment was the "Take Note" and "Just Because" stamps from the Notable Ornate Stamp set.  The "Take Note" was stamped then punched out with the Wide Oval.  The "Just Because" was stamped and punched out with the Modern Label punch then layered over the "Take Note."  My final touches were to add the bow with the "wings" ruched then three buttons attached to finish off the sketch design.  Quick tip:  I used little slivers of More Mustard cardstock and wove them through the button holes for a finished appearance to the buttons.
