Card Sketch #139 – Showing MOM some LOVE!
Mother's Love
Now that we are past Easter it is time to start thinking of some additional celebrations that will soon be arriving such as Mother's Day, Father's Day, Graduations and other special occasions such as Spring Weddings. This card is a that would be great for Mother's Day but could also be used to show appreciation for mom anytime of the year – so, how are you showing MOM some LOVE? The Mothers Love Stamp Set is the perfect stamp set for creating a card and showing MOM some love… show her how much you appreciate all that she does for your throughout the year!
I really love this weeks sketch even if I did take some liberties and switched some elements around and also eliminated some items. My plan was to use the oval with the scallop oval but then I really wanted to use the Mother's Love with the sentiment overlapping the stamped image and that is what finally one me over on my completed card. The color combination of Old Olive, Hello Honey and Calypso Coral are fresh, and just feel like spring. I love the pop of Calypso Coral with the added Seam Binding Ribbon.
Sunny Girl Scraps Tips, Tricks and more:
- To help with the overall color balance of the card, I added the Hello Yellow background border which also helps the individual "see" the Butterflies and the stamped floral image in the background behind the sentiment.
- Each butterfly has pearls to create the feeling of the butterfly body.
- The image behind the sentiment was stamped off to help lighten the colors and to make certain the sentiment "popped."
- Dry embossing is an easy way to add texture and interest to a card.
- Square card are fun to make!
