RemARKable Stampers Blog Tour

Get Moving

OK… You might be thinking what does one create for a "Get Moving" themed card!  The theme is broad and within our group we defined it as anything sports related, a card that moves, new address, new home, modes of transportation or anything related to movement.  My first project features a Shaker Card – you have to shake it and the pieces inside move.  The second project is in honor of my parents and their love of travel especially as they are snow birds living in the south while the weather in Minnesota is snowy, chilly and cold!

Project #1 – Balloon Shaker Card

Remarkables Blog Tour - Get Moving featuring a Balloon Shaker Card by Pam Staples

So, I have a confession… This is my first shaker card ever!  It may not be the fanciest or most elaborate shaker card but it works.  I actually stamped the lower layer for the shaker then the top layer with 1 3/8" circle punch.  The Stampin' Up! Shaker Frames are awesome and make it so easy to create a shaker.  Inside my shaker, I added some glitter and Bermuda Bay Sequins.  It is sparkly and fun!  Other than having to do the shaker twice because I attached the wrong piece upside down, it was much easier than I expected.  If you haven't made a Shaker Card before I really recommend that you give it a try!  It isn't nearly as difficult as it looks.

The color scheme features Hello Honey and Bermuda Bay.  The balloon is stamped with the Hello Honey and I made the tail of the balloon with the Bermuda Bay Sequin Trim.  At the base of the card, I used some of the Natural Chevron Ribbon and stapled it to the card front with the Stampin' Up! stapler.  The flag is Hello Honey Cardstock stamped with the "Woo-Hoo" from the Bravo Stamp Set with Hello Honey Classic Ink.  Finally, the stars finish off the card with a nice triangular effect for drawing the eye around the various elements of the card.  I actually think this is a great masculine card.

Project #2 – Live to Travel

For my second card, I'm actually featuring a Project Life Stamp Set called Let's Get Away.  My parents love to travel during the Winter months in their 5th Wheel Travel Trailer.  This winter they enjoyed visiting my dad's oldest nephew near Maricopa, AZ as well as visiting my In-Laws that live in Tucson, AZ.  They stayed in AZ for a month then they head back east towards San Antonio, TX in the Hill Country which is another area they really enjoy visiting and have made lots of friends over the years.  At this time, they are slowly making their way home to Minnesota then sometime in mid-May they will make their way up to Nevis, MN where they will stay for most of the summer.

For this card, I used the Gorgeous Grunge for the background featuring Old Olive, Hello Honey and Calypso Coral.  I also added an "arrow" stamp that actually looks like 3 little evergreen trees.  I stamped teh "To Live is to Travel" with the Calypso Coral then added the car pulling the camper with Basic Black.  As extra interest and a natural look, I added the linen thread to the background.

I invite you to pin any of my creations to Pinterest and to share your thoughts or questions by leaving me a comment.  I love hearing from all my readers!
