Welcome to Day 10 and final day of the 2013 Artisan Entry Blog Hop. As you visit each blog in this blog hop, you'll see various projects from a handful of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators representing only a small portion of individuals that submitted and entered 10 different projects to Stampin' Up! for the Artisan Design Team contest. Although we were not selected as one of the Top 20 Finalists, we are all winners in that we took the time and effort to send in our projects knowing that it is some of our best work!
As an Artisan Design Team hopeful, each blog hop participant submitted 10 projects to Stampin' Up! for the Artisan Design Team contest consisting of the following:
- 5 – Handmade Cards
- 3 – Scrapbook Pages

2013 Artisan Entry Blog Hop – Day 10
3D Pin Cushion Dress Form
Just as I struggled on the first day as to which project I wanted to start with for the Blog Hop, I also struggled as to which project I should showcase for the final day of the Blog Hop. Ultimately, I selected the 3D Pin Cushion Dress form for my final project using Stampin' Up! Designer Fabric. Now, I really don't consider myself to be a seamstress but I do have some sewing experience along with a 1/2 finished quilt that I started over 15 years ago that was supposed to be a wedding gift for my Brother & Sister-in-law. The quilt has now become the center of a family joke as to when it will be finished and I'm currently telling my Sister-In-Law that I'm aiming for it to be done in time for their 25th wedding anniversary or maybe their 30th wedding anniversary.
Earlier this year I took a class at a local Quilting shop where we made one of these cute Pin Cushion Dress Forms. I loved the finished project and decided it would be the perfect 3D project as one of my submissions for the Artisan Design Team contest using Stampin' Up! Designer Fabric. At the time, I didn't know that Stampin' Up! was planning to retire the fabric… Oh, well!
For the basic of the dress form, I used the pattern that I received from the Quilt shop and the Candelabra base was found at my local Goodwill store for less than $1.00!!! We love awesome finds. So, I pulled out my barely used sewing machine and went to town. When I was done with the basics of the dress form, I thought it looked a little "naked" so decided to dress it up with a skirt. The skirt was my absolute OWN design created from scratch… So, to create the the skirt I just measured the circumference of the waist on my dress form then added some more inches, cut the fabric in a rectangle then sewed it together. I created a hem at the bottom portion of the dress sewing on 5/8" Crochet trim with a Vintage brad and the waistline has an elastic waist which created a gathered skirt. I pulled it onto the dress form but it still wasn't perfect!
So…
I dressed up the waistline with Stampin' Up! ribbon! Oh, boy, I just have to say that I'm a huge fan of ribbon and I loved dressing up the dress form. I used the 1 1/4" inch two-tone basic black ribbon and wrapped that around the waist followed by wrapping the sheer decorative ribbon from the Artisan Embellishment Kit. Then I created various Ribbon Rosettes and attached them to the side where the seams and ribbons matched up which hid the seams. The Ribbon Rosettes where made using the two-tone ribbon, Very Vanilla, Pool Party and Crumb Cake Seam Binding Ribbon with the a Pearl Jewel placed in the center of the rosettes. On the largest ribbon rosette shown on the right, I used a Vintage Faceted Designer Ribbon with a Pearl placed in the middle.
On the upper left shoulder of the dress form, I placed a fabric medallion that I made with a Antique Brad placed in the center. Then, using the Vintage Trinkets I also attached two Tea Time Trinkets to the fabric medallion. To finish everything off, I placed a wooden circular ball on the neck of the dress form then wrapped 5/8" Flower Trim and attached a resin flower that was included in the Artisan Embellishment Kit.
So, this is my 3D Pin Cushion Dress Form… I love the look and actually have plans to make more! Maybe not as elaborate as this one.
I invite you to pin any of my creations to Pinterest and to share your thoughts or questions by leaving me a comment. I love hearing from all my readers – word of mouth is one of the greatest forms of flattery.
Again, thank you so much for checking out my Day 10 project along with my previous 9 submissions for the 2013 Artisan Design Team contest creations. I certainly wish I had been a Top 20 Finalist and believe my creations are definitely worthy of such recognition but I also know there are many other Stampin' Up! Demonstrators besides the 11 of us on this blog hop that are also worthy as well. I do wish this years Top 20 Finalists the best of luck and look forward to finding out the Top 10 selected by Stampin' Up!
