SUO Challenge #138
In This Together and Into The New Year Celebration
The time has come and we are all "In This Together" as we say farewell to 2015 and look Into The New Year by celebrating the arrival of 2016! Are you ready for the New Year? I'm excited about 2016 and the opportunities that abound. My husband and I are excited about enrolling our Special Needs son into a private school for the next school year but there are some hurdles we need to meet such as applying for a disability grant on May 1, 2016 to cover the school tuition. Our son definitely qualifies for the grant but you have to apply as soon as the application process starts then wait to hear if there are enough grants available. Caleb is currently in public school but we are just not happy with how he is segragated from from the mainstream classroom and we really want him to be fully integrated. The private school works to integrate all their students while working at their level. The grant would also help us cover additional Special Therapies outside of the school district services. We are praying it works out for the next year although it seems this year in public school is starting to improve. As I think about our hopes and dreams for our son my thoughts turn to how we are all "In This Together" and our actions have an impact on others.
Now, as I move forward Into the New Year, I'm excited to share this fun card I created for a New Year theme. I love the In This Together Stamp Set and thought it was perfect for watercoloring the image with the cocktail in honor of the New Year. It was a fun card to make.
I started by stamping the image with the Stampin' Up! Archival Basic Black on Watercolor Paper. The dress is colored using Night of Navy Classic Ink with the Aqua painter. The skin tone is created using the Pink Pirrouette Classic Ink and for the blonde hair I used So Saffron Classic Ink. Of course, since we are celebrating a New Year, we need to have some FUN shoes so I used Real Red for shoes that pop and added a red accent belt and flower. I choose to give my girl in blue a Red Cocktail. The background is Soft Sky.
As an accent to my Lady in Blue, I added Washi Tape with a Silver Metalic Button tied with Silver Thread. I also splattered the Multipurpose glue then added silver glitter to the card front for extra sparkle. The watercolor card layer is attached to Night of Navy then attached to a Night of Navy Card Base. I also added a layer of Whisper White inside the card stamped with a New Year sentiment.
