Do you love to playing card games?

My husband and I definitely enjoy playing cards with our favorite game being Pinochle or Golf.  For this project, I had receive this small wooden box with the challenge to make something using the box.  I was thinking the box could be a great item to sell at craft shows.  As I was looking at the box I felt that it had great potential to be made into a "masculine" gift.  Now the box doesn't necessarily need to hold playing cards but I did discover that it will hold two decks of cards along with space for a pen and few sheets of paper.

The box is a small wooden box.  I started by sponging Chocolate Chip Craft Ink on the inside of the handle and along all the edges.  Then I used the Woodland Walk Designer Series Paper to layer on the box and following the curve of the handle.  After I glued on the paper, I took sandpaper and roughened all the edges to bring out the sponging I did with the Chocolate Chip along with the purpose of "smoothing" out the paper.  Next, I wrapped a piece of Early Espresso 5/8" Grosgrain ribbon around the box.  On a 2 3/4" x 3 1/4" piece of Very Vanilla I stamped a background with River Rock Classic Ink with the Grunge Rock Stamp Set followed by the "airplane" from the Plane & Simple Stamp Set found in the Occasions Mini Catalog along with a sentiment from the Word Play Stamp Set.  The Very Vanilla card stock was then layered on a piece of River Rock card stock.  I created the bracket using the Hearts & Brackets Die for the Big Shot and before I cut out the Bracket, I used the Big Shot Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets then applied a piece of designer series paper from the Woodland Walk series.  The final touches were the addition of the 3 brads from the Neutrals collection, Vintage Trinkets attached to the bracket then a piece of Hemp Twine tied to the Vintage Trinkets.
