Oh, am I excited about this weeks Design Team card that I created for the Paper Craft Crew! I've been holding off on using the You've Go This Stamp Set because I feel like I'm seeing so many ideas that are so similar. I needed to find my own inner creativity with this stamp set. My goal was something a little different. Well, this weeks sketch was absolutely perfect! This card is absolutely stunning with the white heat embossed watercolor peony.
I am totally in love with this card! It was so much fun doing the watercolor on the peony which just happens to be my absolute favorite flower.
First, the basics:
- Whisper White Card Base is cut for a 5×5 Square Card
- The card front is Smoky Slate layered with Melon Mambo and Smoky Slate Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack.
- You'll notice that I used the Decorative Dots Embossing folder on the Melon Mambo background layer.
- I added the tiny banners stamped with Melon Mambo and Crushed Curry Ink using the Banner Banter Stamp Set then punched out with the Banner Punch.
- The ribbon was attached and I tied a cute little bow! This is Whisper White 1/4" Cotton Ribbon.
- Add the top layer with the Watercolor Peony!
For the Watercolor Peony layer, I stamped the peony image using Versamark then heat embossed with Whisper White Embossing Powder. This is similar to another watercolor technique. To actually color the flower I used the Aqua Painters filled with water then took the Melon Mambo Classic Ink Pad and squeezed it so ink was on the cover. As for coloring, I just pulled a little color and added to each section of the flower. The more water I used the lighter the color and after each section was colored I went back and added more color to increase the intensity and darkness of various petals. In the center, I used Crushed Curry using the same technique. The flower stem is Garden Green.
For the finishing touches, I added the banner with the sentiment stamped in Melon Mambo with the stamp coming from the Sheltering Tree Stamp Set. Next, I added some Smoky Slate Candy Dots.
