Card Sketch #164
Cardinals are one of my favorite birds. I love that the Cardinal is the state bird of North Carolina and that there are so many of them around. My grandma also loved Cardinals. I've heard people say that a Cardinal is a representative of a love one that has passed. When I saw the Joyful Season Stamp Set in the 2015 Holiday Catalog I knew I had to have it. I love the Cardinal with the 2-Step Stamping. I think of my grandma when I stamp the Cardinal.
The card came together with the card front base of Cherry Cobbler layered with the Holly pattern from the Season of Cheer Designer Series Paper. I made a banner using the Triple Banner Punch on a strip of Cherry Cobbler card stock. Layered behind the banner is also a trimmed piece of Tea Lace Paper Doilies.
On the Whisper White layer I stamped a branch with Crumb Cake ink. Then I stamped the Cardinal which features a 2-Step process. I stamped the outline with Basic Black Ink then I stamped each of the colored layers from the main body, beak and black "beard" of the Cardinal. So easy! The stamped layer overlaps the Cherry Cobbler banner.
The finishing accents include a punched Hexagon from Pear Pizzazz card stock. I cut the "peace" out of Mossy Meadow cardstock using the Christmas Greetings Thinlits which is attached to the Hexagon using the Fine-Tip Glue Pen. I cannot say it often enough but I LOVE the Fine-Tip Glue Pen… Amazing Glue! Then I added a Home for the Christmas Enamal Dot to finish the card.
