SUO Challenge #132
Festive Flower Builder Punch
Punch It Up
Hey, welcome back to Sunny Girl Scraps! The weather is definitly helping me think more and more about getting into the Christmas Spirit. It was a very rainy weekend and it looks like this week is going to be very rainy as well. I'm just hoping it stops long enought to dry out a little so we can mow the lawn on Friday and get ready for our son's 6th birthday party on Saturday (although NOT one classmate has RSVP'd yet so I have no idea who will be at the party yet other than our son's best friend and a few church friends). I really hope we get a few RSVP's for his party because Caleb is so excited. This week is all about cleaning and getting the house presentable especially if we have to move the party inside!
As the last minute birthday preparations come together I'm also trying to find a little time to be in the craft room! The current Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog has a wonderful new punch called the Festive Flower Builder Punch which is totally awesome for anyone that loves Poinsettia flowers. My mom always had Poinsettia flowers during the holidays and I think they are so beautiful. I love the variations and colors but opted to stick with the traditional Red Poinsettia for the Punch It Up challenge from the SUO Challenge Blog.
The card features a watercolor background featuring Cherry Cobbler, Hello Honey and Tangerine Tango. To create the background, I brushed clean water over the Watercolor Paper then added each of the colors starting with the lightest color then adding the dark colors. Once the watercolor was dry I actually stamped the sentiment with versamark and heat embossed the stamped image with Gold Embossing powder. I then added a small strip of the Season of Cheer Designer Series Paper to the edge of the watercolor paper.
I love that Stampin' Up! offers great bundles that help you save 15% and the Festive Flowers Builder Punch is one half of an awesome bundle! The Reason for the Season Stamp Set and Festive Flower Builder Punch are currently available as a bundle not to be missed out on! To create the Poinsettia flower, I stamped 8 images of the larger petal with Cherry Cobbler ink on Cherry Cobbler cardstock then I punched each petal out with the Festive Flower Builder Punch. I repeated for each layer of the flower with the medium petal I stamped and punched 4 petals and for the top layer I stamped the "small" petal twice. To assemble the flower, you need to use a circle punch as the base for the Poinsettia flower. To finish the flower the center is crushed curry with a pearl then I added leaves to the poinsettia using the large Petal stamp on Mossy Meadow.
