Beautiful You Black Tie Gala
Theme Challenge PCC#224
When I worked full time in a Brokerage Firm then a Law Firm, I would usually attend one or two Black Tie Gala’s during the Holiday Season. There are times that I miss dressing up to celebrate the Holidays and ring in the New Year. In 1999, I rang in the New Year at a HUGE New Years Eve party held by the Law Firm where I worked. It was most definitely a Black Tie Gala affair with many local elite in attendance. There was lots of Black but also lots of ladies wearing gorgeous gowns in deep, rich colors from Reds to Blues to Greens!
Now, as a Stay At Home Mom… well, those days are gone. I miss dressing up and especially seeing my husband dressed up but that just means we need to go on a cruise in the near future so I can see him dressed up for the formal nights. Yes, there are times that I miss the opportunity to dress up and get out of MOM clothes.
The new Beautiful You Stamp Set is perfect for this Black Tie Gala challenge. I find that the image is reminisce of Audrey Hepburn with a classic, elegant style and I love the hat! Heat embossing is an elegant technique that really adds to the Black Tie Gala feel of today’s challenge card. A little sparkle added with Silver Glimmer Paper to the Whisper White attached with a unique angle. Then pops of Cherry Cobbler along with Basic Black Designer Series Paper Stack continues the glamorous feel of the card. I truly hope you are inspired and play along with the last Paper Craft Crew Challenge of 2016!
Card Details:
- Card Base: The card base is an A2 Card using the Thick Whisper White cardstock. An A2 card is half of a letter sized piece of cardstock. The card base measurements are 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ with the 8-1/2″ side folded in half for final measurements of 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″.
- Card Front Layers: On the front panel of the card base, I’ve attached a piece of Designer Series Paper Stack in Basic Black from the Neutral Collection. The Whisper White layer is attached at an angle with a strip of Silver Glimmer paper just along the edge of the Whisper White for an added touch of glamour.
- Stamped Elements: The elegant lady is stamped with Whisper White Craft Ink on the Basic Black cardstock then heat embossed with White Embossing Powder. I used the Layering Square Framelits to cut out the embossed image along with the Cherry Cobbler scallop square. The sentiment is stamped on the Cherry Cobbler cardstock with the Whisper White Craft Ink and also heat embossed with White Embossing Powder. The sentiment is die cut using the Bunch of Banners Framelits.
Card Elements: To recap, the key elements of the card are the unique angle of the Whisper White background layer lined with the Silver Glimmer paper along one edge. You have the stamped image and sentiment from the Beautiful You Stamp Set that are heat embossed with White embossing powder.
- Finishing Touches: As this Beautiful You Black Tie Gala card came together I needed the finishing touch! The Botanical Builder Framelits provided the perfect means for adding the finishing touches to the card with three Cherry Cobbler flowers. The flowers actually remind me of a corsage.
