With this SUO! Challenge, I decided to work with Ovals and Circles as the key elements of my design tied into the stamped image from the Beautiful You Stamp Set.  When I look at the Beautiful You Stamp Set, I see elegance and with that in mind I decided to keep the design clean design with a key focal point.

Using Melon Mambo with the Silver Satin Ribbon against a Whisper White backdrop dry embossed with the large polka dots is simply gorgeous.  Each element stands out within the theme of the challenge.

  • Card Base:  Yes, I’m using the Thick Whisper White card stock since it creates a strong, sturdy base. I gave some thought to using Melon Mambo for the base but decided I really wanted to keep the Melon Mambo to just a hint of color.
  • Card Front Layers:  Whisper White on a White card base creates a very clean, elegant line.  I used the Large Polka Dot Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for that extra touch of interest along with tying in circles to the SUOC theme.
  • Stamped Elements:  The elegant lady is stamped with Archival Basic Black on Watercolor Paper.  Then, I colored 3/4 of the dress and hat with the Melon Mambo Watercolor Pencil.  To blend and color in the remaining portions of the dress, I actually used the Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen.  The liquid in the Wink of Stella acts just like an Aqua Pen and helps to blend the pencil color out to the remaining portions of the dress while adding dimension.  The sparkle on the dress is gorgeous and really adds to the elegance of this card.

I used the Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush to blend the Watercolor Pencil color.

Card Elements:  I attached the Silver 5/8″ Satin Ribbon to the card front with a bow tied off to the right. Attached is the Oval stamped with the lady from the Beautiful You Stamp Set layered on a Melon Mambo Scallop Oval layered over the ribbon.  Finally, I added the stamped sentiment cut with the Layering Circle Framelits and also layered with Melon Mambo scallop circle.

  • Finishing Touches:  Stampin’ Dimensionals layered onto Stampin’ Dimensionals helps add depth to the card.  The Circle Sentiment pops up over the oval and looks like a tag next to the Satin Ribbon.
