Card Challenge #74 – Summer Fun Edition
Come join along with the Can You Case It Summer Fun Challenge! Create a card all about summer. For my card, I've created a nice fence with the sun rising over the edge along with butterflies flitting about celebrating the glorious day. This is the perfect challenge today as the weather here in North Carolina has officially hit the upper 90's with the heat index well into the 100's! I'm honestly not a fan of this heat… Spring and Fall are my favorite seasons with temperatures between the mid-60's up to low-80's! The upper 90's probably wouldn't be so bad if there wasn't the high humidity factor as well. I will say that as I loose weight the higher temperatures don't bother me as much.
This weeks card is really bright, and cheerful display of summer! The sun is bright and we are enjoying the long, full days of sunshine. The card front features the sun from the Ray of Sunshine Stamp Set stamped with Crushed Curry. For the fence, I used the hardwood stamp set stamped with the awesome new in-color, Tip Top Taupe, then sponged over it with Crumb Cake. To create the appearance of fence posts you can easily use the corner of the square punch… SO easy and a great technique.
Added touches include the Mint Macron 1" Dotted Lace Trim gathered in the background behind the sentiment which is also stamped with Mint Macron Classic Ink and cut out with the Deco Labels Collection Framelits. The butterflies were stamped with Calypso Coral Classic Ink using the Papillon Potpourri Stamp Set then punched out with the Elegant Butterfly Punch. Basic pearls add the finishing touch!
I may not enjoy the heat that comes with summer but I do love the time spent with family and all the adventures that we have. The long days is another favorite thing about summer. What do you love about summer? Do you enjoy creating some fun family memories?
