Can You Case It
Color Challenge #73
Oh My Goodies
I did manage to create a card for this weeks Color Challenge for the Can You Case It Challenge Blog. For this card, I'm featuring the Oh My Goodies Stamp Set. The colors for this challenge are Basic Black, Sahara Sand and Blushing Bride. I have to say that this is favorite combination of mine especially for vintage style cards. If you haven't guessed already, I really prefer a Whisper White or Very Vanilla card base and in this case I'm using Very Vanilla layered with the Blushing Bride then Basic Black then with the top layer being Typeset Specialty.
There are many techniques that I love and I would have to say doing a gathered ribbon on a card is definitely at the top of my favorites list especially on a vintage style card. In this case, I layered the Sahara Sand 7/8" Lace Trim then another layer of the Blushing Bride 1/4" Cotton Ribbon. I love the look of the two ribbons and the feel it adds to the card.
Next, I stamped the Live Well sentiment from the Oh My Goodies Stamp Set on Very Vanilla and used the Deco Labels Collection Framelits Dies to cut out the sentiment. As part of this element, I added linen thread wrapped behind the sentiment. The sentiment was then attached to the card front using dimensionals… A whopping 3 dimensionals stacked on each other so it layered nicely over the gathered ribbon and trim!
Finally, I added the Butterfly. The Potpourri Papillion Stamp Set is one of my favorites with the different butterfly options. This butterfly is stamped with Blushing Bride Classic Ink then attached to the card front with dimensionals. For the finishing touch, I added three pearls down the center of the butterfly.
So, that's it! The card have a vintage feel yet isn't overly complicated to create. I love the way it turned out. I did consider sponging the edges of the Typset Specialty Designer Series Paper with Sahara Sand Classic Ink but decided to keep it as is without the added element. Anyway, I hope you enjoy and come play along with this weeks challenge.
