The past 2 weeks have actually been pretty crazy for me with my 5 year old son, Caleb, first being sick last week with stomach issues related to food allergies then this week there was no school on Monday for Martin Luther King Day added to that no school on Tuesday and Wednesday for Teacher Workshops day. I've been feeling cooped up so today we met daddy for lunch then went to check out our soon-to-be new church building! It was fun checking out the new location and seeing all the work that still needs to be done before our first church service on February 1st – although I'm going to miss the first service at the new location since I'm going to be in Orlando, Florida for the Stampin' Up! Leadership Conference. Anyway… I've been squeezing in time in the office / craft room when Caleb has been playing by himself or has sent me to "my room!" For once, I don't mind being sent "to my room."
Even with the crazy two weeks and working towards better organization, my goal to participate in more challenges and post at least 5 days a week is starting to happen. I'm finding that it really does come down to being better organized so that I can take a mid-day break to play with my son and also meet my husband for lunch. With all that going on, I decided to take on the Create with Connie & Mary Color Challenge "CCMC338."
CCMC338
Hey, Valentine
If you are not familiar with a Color Challenge, they can be lots of fun. For the CCMC338 Color Challenge there are three colors that needed to be used on your completed card. If you would like to visit the
Create with Connie and Mary blog, click on the image below. Here are the three colors:
These three colors are absolutely gorgeous together and I couldn't wait to play along! I started by selecting the Hey, Valentine Stamp Set and stamped the cute Fishy Image on Whisper White Cardstock then colored the fish using the Bermuda Bay and Calypso Coral Blendabilities. If I could have, I would have also colored the fish with Crushed Curry but Stampin' Up! doesn't have Blendabilities in that color. Now, I did use a little bit of the Smoky Slate for the Hat and little book which I hope is OK. After I finished coloring the fish, I attached the Whisper White to a Bermuda Bay background.
The first base layer of the card is Crushed Curry with a layer of the Best Year Ever Designer Series Paper with the Crushed Curry design which is a free item you can earn during Sale-A-Bration. Next, I took another strip of the Best Year Ever Designer Series Paper with a Calypso Coral pattern and attached it to the card front at an angle. Now I attached the stamped and colored image to the card. For a little embellishment, I stamped a Crushed Curry hexagon image using the Six-Sided Sampler then added a little banner stamped with Bermuda Bay and topped it off with a Calypso Coral button.
If I don't say so myself, this is a really cute little card! I love the colors and the little fishy characters are so cheerful. The embellishments also helped to just finish off this card. This card was actually pretty quick and easy to put together.
