SUO Challenge #143 Easter Fun

Remarkable You Easter Card

March has arrived!  Here in North Carolina, it is marching in like a lamb and I’m going to hope it doesn’t march out like a lion.  Easter is early this year at the end of March (my main reason that I hope March doesn’t go out like a lion!).  Cala Lilies are one of the only lilies that I don’t have an allergic reaction to and I love the beauty of a Cala Lily.  I was originally going to do a cute, bunny or chick themed Easter Card but as I was thinking through the process I remembered the Cala Lilies in the Remarkable You Stamp Set. So, here you go…  An elegant, watercolor Easter Card featuring the Cala Lilies from the Remarkable You Stamp Set.

This card features water coloring using the Aqua Pen with Classic Ink. When doing any watercolor technique, the stamped image needs to be stamped with a solvent, archival ink such as Stazon or Stampin’ Up! Basic Black Archival Ink.  I stamped the Cala Lilies using Stampin’ Up! Basic Black. Using the Aqua Painter, I lightly filled in the Cala Lily with water without any color pigment.  To start coloring, I started with So Saffron Classic Ink and started to trace along the edges of the Cala Lilies where I wanted color and pulled the color away from the edge towards the center of the flower.  I kept adding more So Saffron until I had the depth of color that I visually felt gave the flowers the effect I wanted.  Next, I added Crushed Curry at select points on the flowers and used Old Olive on the stems.  The background is brushed with Lost Lagoon and Soft Sky.
