Welcome to another challenge with the Stampin' Up! Only Challenges. SU! Only Challenges is a bi-weekly challenge so you have plenty of time to play along. The theme for the current challenge is "Last Minute Cards & Gifts" and in my case, I'm sharing a last minute gift.. Well, let's clarify! I thought this would be a "last" minute gift but it takes a tad longer than I was expecting and is a bit more advanced. So… Here we go!
SUOC #86 – Last Minute Cards & Gifts
Curly Snowman
I am having so much fun making the Curly Wreaths and then I thought… How about making a "snowman." The Curly Snowman is the perfect Paper Craft Home Decor piece and a fun gift. So, I purchased the circular Styrofoam balls in 3 different sizes then I shaved the base and sections that connected each ball together. To hold it together, I took wooden cooking skewers and stuck 3 of them through the Styrofoam balls to hold them together. This "little" guy is about 13" to 14" tall.
The Designer Series Paper is the Winter Frost Specialty Designer Series Paper. The snowman took exactly 1 full pack of the Winter Frost although I did pull 1 extra sheet from a second pack so the snowman head was ALL the same patterns. As I worked from the head down to the base, I gradually added in darker shades of the Winter Frost Specialty Designer Series Paper.
For the finishing touches, I used the 3/4" Circle Punch to punch out the mouth from Basic Black cardstock. The eyes are also basic black cardstock circles punched using the 1" Circle Punch then the buttons are created using the 1 1/4" circle punch. The nose is Pumpkin Pie cardstock which I spiral curled. All elements were attached using my Hot Glue Gun.
So, isn't he cute and a FUN Paper Craft Home Decor creation!!! I have to admit, I've been jealous of all my northern friends getting snow while all we had was LOTS of rain.
