Happy Anniversary to Michelle Laycock! What anniversary do you ask? Michelle is celebrating 10 years as a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator. I myself just celebrated my 3rd Anniversary as a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator on March 23! Time really does fly when you are having fun. So, onto the new challenge for the SU! Only Challenge Blog…
Stampin' Up! Only Challenge #42
Congratulation or Happy Anniversary Card
for Michelle Laycock
The design team for the Stampin' Up! Only Challenge Blog are celebrating! We are celebrating Michelle Laycock's 10th Anniversary with Stampin' Up! Michelle is an extremely talented lady and in fact designed my blog. Most of the design team actually created "congratulation" cards but I decided to stay with a Happy Anniversary theme for my card. Actually, I enjoyed the look and feel of the card I made last week for the Stampin' Queen's Sketch Challenge so much that I decided to play with that design for this card as well and turned it on its side while sticking to the same color scheme. I highly recommend that you join our challenge and stop on over to the Stampin' Up! Only Challenge Blog to view the designs by the remaining design team members.
I have to say that Baja Breeze with the Early Espresso are just gorgeous. The colors are so rich. I started with the Creative Elements stamp set and created a background stamped image using Crumb Cake on the Naturals Ivory. I then layered the butterfly image using from the Creative Elements stamp set stamped in Baja Breeze. The butterfly image was framed by using the rectangle from the Designer Frames Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I then used a Beveled Windowpane layered over the Butterfly. The largest Beveled Window pane fits perfectly inside the rectangle created by the Designer Frames Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The Naturals Ivory was layered with a piece of Early Espresso card stock.
I then stamped the "happy anniversary" from the A Word For You stamp set on the Naturals Ivory using the Early Espresso and layered the Naturals Ivory on Early Espresso as well.
Of course, I just HAD to use the Beautiful Wings Emboslit Die for some 3D Butterfly embellishments. This has to be one of my favorite embosslits – Well, OK… It IS my favorite because I just love butterflies.
Finally, the finishing touch was to create a bow for the card. I tied my bow then added a brad wrapped around the center of the bow. A favorite technique that I'm currently enjoying is the gathered ribbon on a card or as I know it to be called, ruching! I use stick tape then create folds while slightly twisting and sticking the ribbon down on the sticky tape.
Oh, I forgot to mention that the very first layer was created using the Pocketful of Posies Designer Series Paper layered on Early Espresso card stock. I have to chuckle at myself for just discovering this Designer Series Paper and falling in love with it when there are only 2 months remaining before it retires. I guess you may be seeing more of this designer series paper!
