Stampin' Queen's Sketch Challenge #25
The Open Sea Valentine
This week for the Stampin' Queen's Sketch Challenge #25, I pulled out a wonderful stamp set called "The Open Sea" which is still available for purchase from Stampin' Up! even though it came from the 2011 Holiday Mini Catalog. I love the feel of this stamp set and its masculine nature.
The base of this card starts with the River Rock card stock layered with Cajun Craze card stock and the Well Worn Designer Series Paper. I stamped the "ledger" image using the River Rock classic ink on the watercolor paper then I stamped the ship image using Cajun Craze classic ink.
The images were cut out using the new Framelits Labels Collection and layered with a larger border of the Framelits Labels Collection. The ribbon is the Cajun Craze 1 1/4" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon. As a final touch, I used the "love" from the Tiny Tags stamp set and used the Jewelry Tag punch and tied the punched shape to the grosgrain ribbon.
Tips from SunnyGirlScraps:
- Coordinate your card stock colors with the Designer Series Paper that you are using.
- Don't be afraid to follow a simple layout or sketch.
- Try not to overwhelm your card with competing Designer Series Paper.
- Have fun with a sketch!
If you have the opportunity, we would love to have you join in the fun and create a card using this weeks sketch for the Stampin' Queens! Here is the sketch! We love having our readers participate. I know I enjoy seeing everyone's creations along with their interpretation of the card sketch.
