Happy Birthday To You!

So, I just have to share that my son absolutely LOVES celebrating birthday’s and especially singing the Happy Birthday song! Actually, he doesn’t even need to be celebrating a birthday to sing the song. Whenever I buy him Cupcakes as a treat, he insists that I add a candle so he can sing himself the Happy Birthday song then blow out the candle. Caleb is 6 years old and I just LOVE how kids get so excited about birthdays. I wish I had a video to share showing how his whole body shakes and how excited he gets.

As I type this and as this challenge goes live, my brother will be celebrating a Happy Birthday on Ground Hogs day. As our resident Ground Hog, we always ask him if he saw his shadow on his birthday! Of course, we hope his “happy birthday” involved gray sky and no shadows. Caleb is certain to enjoy calling his uncle to sing him the Happy Birthday song!

So, here is my Happy Birthday themed card for this challenge! This is the card that I’ve sent my brother (although it will be a little late – oops!) as part of the #imbringingbirthdaysback campaign started by Shannon West. The background features the World Traveler Textured Impressions Embossing Folder but I actually inked it up with Smoky Slate Classic Ink, inserted my Whisper White cardstock then closed the embossing folder and just pressed it together to get the inked impression. I love the effect especially with the World Traveler Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

In the background I added two diagonally cut strips of Schoolhouse Designer Series Paper. I stamped the compass image from the Going Global stamp set then punched it out using the coordinating 2″ Circle Punch then tucked it under the top layer. The Happy Birthday sentiment is stamped on Whisper White using Basic Black Archival Ink and layered with Calypso Coral card stock. As the finishing touch, I hand cut and added the Biplane from the Sky is the Limits Sale-A-Bration Stamp Set.
