Welcome to the Scrapbook Sunday Blog Hop as I feature the Pick A Pumpkin Bundle with my sweet boy using a Scrapbook Page Map! Just so you know, the Scrapbook Sunday Blog Hop is NEW and this is our first blog hop. I’m so excited to be part of this awesome group as we each feature scrapbook pages using Stampin’ Up! products. In the future, you can expect to see some Memories and More scrapbook pages in addition to my traditional scrapbook pages.

Not only is this month our first Scrapbook Sunday Blog Hop but I also designed the Page Map (Sketch) for our first Blog Hop! It was fun to create the page map and I can’t wait to see everyone’s Scrapbook Pages. In my case, I kept pretty true to the sketch although I was tempted to turn it but ultimately kept to the same basic layout.

Oh, and, mark your calendars! The Scrapbook Sunday Blog Hop will happen the THIRD Sunday of each month! So, we will be back on January 21, 2018 with scrapbook inspiration using Stampin’ Up! Products!

Scrapbook Sunday Blog Hop

Scrapbook Page Map

Is it a Scrapbook Page Map or Scrapbook Sketch? Actually, it’s both. Some people call them sketches while others will say Page Map but either way they work the same. The purpose is to inspire! I had lots of fun creating this Scrapbook Page Map for the Scrapbook Sunday Blog Hop Team to use for our first Blog Hop. The Scrapbook Page Map definitely inspired me and I have several ideas for future scrapbook pages. Today’s scrapbook page features the Pick A Pumpkin Bundle.

Scrapbook with Pick A Pumpkin at the Pumpkin Patch

I choose to scrapbook and share a story from a moment in my son’s life. That moment is about a family tradition my husband and I started with our son when he was a year old. Shortly after he turned one, we went to our first Corn Maize and Pumpkin Patch as a family. It was a crazy, hot day! But, it was the start of some wonderful family memories.

The scrapbook page shows Caleb finding a Pumpkin at the Pumpkin Patch. In this photo, he is 7 years old. He is holding the Pumpkin up to me for “inspection” as I’m a little OCD about our Pumpkins. They should be fairly round, a nice orange color and NO mushy, rotten areas!

Scrapbook Family Traditions

One of the traditions we’ve established as a family is the annual trip to a Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch! When the fall weather in North Carolina finally gets to a point where I can pretend it is fall, we like to head out to one of many Pumpkin Patches.  There are so many places to visit in our area. We love going to Naylor Farms, Ken’s Corny Corn Maize, Vollmer Farm or Hill Ridge Farms.

Growing up in Minnesota, one of our favorite fall activities was going Apple Picking but living in North Carolina there are not nearly as many Apple Orchards near where we live. Some day we will go to an Apple Orchard so instead we started going to the Pumpkin Patch. Family traditions are all about spending time together doing an activity that you love. Caleb has so much fun riding in the barrel trains, feeding the farm animals and going in the corn bins.

My personal favorite is doing the Hay Ride as a family. Caleb loves it because of the Tractor pulling the trailer filled with hay. The Hay Ride isn’t usually very long. We ride together as a family then once we arrive at the Pumpkin Patch everyone gets off the Hay Ride and finds a pumpkin.  There are little Pumpkins, White Pumpkins, Big Pumpkins, Round Pumpkins and Rectangular Pumpkins… So many options! I personally prefer LARGE, round and orange pumpkins.

Why you should Scrapbook?

  1. Preserve Memories!
  2. Photo’s are PRINTED… Photo’s should physically exist somewhere besides a digital camera or phone!
  3. Scrapbooks tell stories by preserving memories… It’s a form of Story Telling!
  4. It’s a way to track time… Mark the Years, Seasons, milestones and changes!
  5. A photo without words is just a photo and doesn’t hold lasting value or meaning…
  6. It’s a gift to your family! The memories you preserve NOW will be passed down through time.
  7. Scrapbooking can be catered to individual tastes!
  8. You can share anything!
  9. Express yourself and creativity
  10. Yes, it really is relaxing and fun.

These are only a few examples of WHY you should scrapbook! It’s a form of expression. Actually, you don’t even need to be a creative person. Get those photos printed and into an album but make certain to include some journaling sharing the story behind the history of the photos.

SunnyGirlScraps Scrapbook Tips and Tricks:

  • Stumped? A Sketch or Page Map are the perfect solution. Copy it exactly or use it as a guideline.
  • Don’t know what to journal? You don’t have to write a novel! Just a couple of sentences can tell the story when paired with a picture!
  • Keep it simple… You don’t have to try to scrapbook EVERY photo! Choose one or two photos for a traditional page then put the remaining photos into a Pocket style scrapbook page.
  • Stamping and Scrapbooking? Using stamping materials or Stampin’ Up! products on a scrapbook page is perfect! Why? because you can CUSTOMIZE the embellishments you stamp to fit YOUR story!

Pick A Pumpkin Scrapbook Page Details:

  • The 12 x 12 base is Very Vanilla which establishes a clean, neutral background.
  • A base layer using a strip of Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper helps establish a focal point for the scrapbook page.
  • Behind the photo, I’ve added a Cajun Craze matte  to help the photo “pop” against the Painted Autumn background.
  • I used the Ticket Tear Border punch with Soft Sky Card Stock to create a tag with the date of the event.
  • The page needed a very prominent title so I used the Large Letters Framelits to die-cut “Pumpkin.”
  • Next, I stamped the word “patch” using the Labeler Alphabet then “fussy” cut the word and attached it to “Pumpkin” as a way to finish the page title.
  • While I could have easily done a printed rectangle for the journaling, I opted to print then cut each strip of journaling to create a unique look.
  • I used the Pick a Pumpkin Stamp Set along with the coordinating Patterned Pumpkins Thinlits Dies to create the page embellishments. The pumpkins, black rhinestone jewels along with the foliage create the final details that complete the page.
