What are you going to celebrate with A Nice Cuppa? Celebrate with Tea, Coffee or Hot Chocolate? Well, since it’s Wednesday and that means I’m over at the Paper Craft Crew for this weeks Card Sketch Challenge! In my case, I’m going to celebrate A Nice Cuppa Coffee today since I was up late completing this blog post! I also invite you to come on over and check out this weeks sketch as well as the Design Team submissions. The challenge starts today and ends on Tuesday, March 30th at 11:55 PM EST.
Celebrate with A Nice Cuppa
Card Sketch #187 – A Nice Cuppa Something?
I was saddened this morning to hear of the terrorist attacks in Belgium. Stampin’ Up! has many European Demonstrators some of which have been affected in some way by these attacks. My heart goes out to my European counterparts. While my hear cries out at the senselessness of it all, I’m also celebrating the life that I do have. Many may have a desire to hide and stay safely entrenched within their home but I believe that is what the Terrorists want! We must not let their terror win but choose to live life to the fullest knowing we could die at a moments notice.
As I share and contemplate what is happening in the world, my focus turns to this weeks card that I made for the Paper Craft Crew Card Challenge #187 featuring A Nice Cuppa Stamp Set. The card states “Celebrate.” It is a birthday card but it also makes me think about how I should celebrate my life everyday. My life is firmly placed within the hands of God with Jesus as my Savor. Now, some of you may not believe in Jesus… That is OK. But don’t let your life be lived in fear. Celebrate each day and live your life to the fullest. Don’t let fear eat away from your joy.
This weeks card brings me joy as I think about sipping some tea (Iced Chai Tea Latte to be specific) or coffee (and, yeah, my coffee would be a Frappuccino). Did you know that Square cards are fun to make? It wasn’t until I started doing challenges and designing sketches that Square cards caught my fancy. Yes, they are more expensive to mail but I love that they are “different” and gives you a little more workable canvas.
The card front features Whisper White with a Blackberry Bliss center. I used the Oval Framelits with Hello Honey card stock to create the focal point with A Nice Cuppa something with a cute heart of steam rising from the cup. The stamped cup is Blackberry Bliss placed on the oval and a banner stamped with “celebrate” from the And Many More Stamp Set using Hello Honey classic ink.
Looking closely you’ll see I used Wildflower Fields Designer Series Paper in the background with an interesting diagonal cut… I love how this just adds interest to the card. The Wildflower Fields is placed over the Blackberry Bliss card stock under the oval. Following with the sketch, I added a small flower that I made using the Petite Petals Punch and Calypso Coral Card Stock. The finishing touches include the placement of a Metal Rimmed Pearl in the center of the flower and two smaller Pearl Basic Jewels on the Blackberry Bliss background. Next, the card front was attached to another layer of Blackberry Bliss and placed onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
