Birthday Bash

Hello and happy Thursday to you!  I’m so glad to have you join me for this fun Birthday Bash on the OSAT Blog Hop.  I confess to being in a funky mood while making today’s projects.  Originally, the plan was for Pink and Black but as I was playing the plan changed!

I really don’t have a need for a 40th Birthday Card, or at least I didn’t think so at the time I was creating the card!  Yes, today’s projects feature a Basic Black, Crushed Curry and Whisper White theme.  Please enjoy.

I love the Pop of Pink Specialty Designer Series Paper which is where my inspiration for this card started.  The Black and White stripes were calling out to me!  Would you agree that the Black and White stripes fit a 40th Birthday perfectly?

The “40” is heat embossed on Basic Black with White Stampin’ Emboss powder for a stark contrast.  It really has an “over the hill” feel with a touch of class.  Next, I used the Large Number Framelits to cut the 4 and 0 out.

Adding the Crushed Curry banner stamped with the Birthday Banners Stamp Set for a black, faux stitch adds a bold touch of color to the card.  I love how the banner against the Basic Black then topped with the “40” really pops on the card.

Adding finishing touches are always important.  This card still needed a few more little pops of color.  That is where the Enamel Shapes filled a void!  I added three Regal Enamel Shapes in the Crushed Curry Color to coordinate with the background banner.

The second Birthday Bash Project features the Baker’s Box Thinlits.  To coordinate with the 40th Birthday Bash Card, I used more of the Pop of Pink Specialty Designer Series Paper.  The stripes were definitely challenging but I love the look of the box.  This is the first time I’ve used the Baker’s Box Thinlits and I’ve actually had it for a long time.  I will be making more Baker’s Boxes in the very near future.

I used the Badges & Banners Stamp Set to create the badge.  Heat embossing was another main theme for today’s projects! The badge is stamped with VersaMark then heat embossed on Basic Black with White Stampin’ Emboss powder.

Tying into the 40th Birthday Bash Card, I stamped and cut a second Crushed Curry banner. On the back of the badge, I added some adhesive then added Silver Metallic Thread.  The badge was then attached to the banner. Then I added the “Yum” for just a little whimsy.

My final dilemma was deciding how to close the Baker’s Box.  I only recently purchased some of the Gold Binder Clips and they really were the perfect solution.  The final embellishment to the box is the addition of some Halloween Night Baker’s Twine tied in a small bow attached to the Gold Binder Clips.
