Here Little Piggy… Here piggy, piggy – OINK! Oh, yes, my sweet silly little boy was channeling his inner farm boy calling out to each Little Piggy at the Gulf Breeze Zoo in the Florida Panhandle. It was April 17, 2014 and we took a family trip down to Navarre, FL to visit Grandma & Grandpa the “snowbirds.”
OINK! This Little Piggy
OnStage Display Stamper Scrapbook Sample
I was over the moon excited to be selected as an OnStage Display Stamper for the Richmond, VA location. When I opened my package of goodies, I knew instantly that I was going to use the This Little Piggy Stamp Set with these photos from our Navarre, FL vacation even though it had been 3 years. Honestly, I think it was divine intervention! I’ve had these cute piggy photos sitting in the photo box but wasn’t inspired until I opened the box of display stamper goodies and discovered the new This Little Piggy Stamp Set.
The piggies at Gulf Breeze Zoo had brown and orange fur which I’ve never seen up close before. The fur is the inspiration for how I colored the This Little Piggy images on this scrapbook page. Each Little Piggy is colored using the Stampin’ Up! Watercolor Pencils and blended with various shades of Calypso Coral, Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black and Basic Grey to create the spots on each pig. Then, I fussy cut two of the three pigs. The third pig is die cut using the Layering Oval Framelits since I wanted to include the “You Make Me Happy” sentiment.
Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack
Another awesome product included in the Display Stamper box was the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack. The sheets are 6×6 in size but with multiple sheets of the same design I was able to seamlessly patch two sheets together so that it looks like one sheet. In the background, I wanted it to look blotchy like mud splatters so I used the spots stamp from the Swirly Bird Stamp Set.
Check out the OINK! If you are a scrapbooker then you definitely need the Large Letters Framelits along with the coordinating Letters for You Stamp Set. Remember, the bundle price is only available until May 31, 2017! The letters are diecut out of Cajun Craze card stock.
Eek… Do I need Journaling?
Well, no you don’t NEED journaling on a scrapbook page but it sure is nice especially for future generations! So, of course, there is journaling on my page. I really dislike my handwriting. So, my solution is to use my printer for journaling. I know… I know… You’re taking back to me from your computer that I’m my own worst critic. Don’t worry, I do some written journaling. This time, however, I wanted the page to look “neat” with straight lines so using the printer was the only answer.
I love using Vellum. For the Oink scrapbook page, I printed the journaling on Vellum Cardstock. Using vellum allowed the texture of the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack to show through from behind the vellum. To attach the vellum, I strategically used either glue dots or Tombow Multi Purpose that I hid behind photos and the one pig.
Let’s talk about the finishing touches. Embellishments are the perfect way to add a little touch of personality and to finish the project. Here, I’ve used the Cajun Craze Regal Enamel Shapes with six stars and three dots. I love the Enamel Shapes. Another finishing touch is the addition of a tag with the date which helps provide a timeline for the event. Finally, I added a little country charm by using linen thread loosely wrapped and placed behind the sitting pig.
I had so much at OnStage in Richmond, VA. Kim was amazing. I was also part of the You Crew and had a blast quizzing people for the chance to win some fun products. One of the fun things offered at OnStage are the Photo Booth shots. I had fun taking photos with friends but really love this photo of me next to the Stampin’ Up!
