Are we feeling blue?  Well, this week we are feeling a little blue with fun color challenge by the Can You Case It? team.  The color challenge is to use THREE shades of BLUE on a card!  Blue is one of my favorite colors so I definitely had fun with this challenge.

Handmade card created by Pam Staples, Sunny Girl Scraps, as a Can You Case It? design team member. #crazyaboutyou #helloyou #pamstaples #stampinup #sunnygirlscrapsThe background features the Watercolor Wash Background Stamp stamped on the Thick Whisper White card base.  To create the background, I first inked the Watercolor Wash Background Stamp with Soft Sky Classic Ink, then I inked the stamp with Pacific Point around the outer portions of the stamp and, finally, I inked the stamp along the very outer edges with Night of Navy.  BUT… before I stamped the background image I also spritzed the Watercolor Wash Background Stamp with water.  After the Watercolor Wash background had dried, I used a ruched technique to attach the Night of Navy Seam Binding Ribbon to the front of the card.  The Neutral Designer Series Paper Stack has some awesome Silver Diagonal striped paper which I also attached.

I love butterflies and finally pulled out my Watercolor Wings Stamp Set for this card!  I love that this stamp set is a two-step stamp set that makes it SO easy to layer on colors to create a beautiful butterfly.  I used the Soft Sky for the main portion of the butterfly then stamped the outer edge with the Pacific Point after stamping off some of the color.  The center portion of the butterfly is Night of Navy.  Another great feature of the Watercolor Wings stamp set is that there are coordinating Framelits that make it SO easy to cut out the butterfly!  I used the Bold Butterfly Framelits to cut out the butterfly THEN I stamped the center of the butterfly body using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink – I found this to be the easiest way to make certain the body of the butterfly is properly placed.
