Welcome to Day 7 of the 2013 Artisan Entry Blog Hop. As you visit each blog in this blog hop, you'll see various projects from a handful of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators representing only a small portion of individuals that submitted and entered 10 different projects to Stampin' Up! for the Artisan Design Team contest. Although we were not selected as one of the Top 20 Finalists, we are all winners in that we took the time and effort to send in our projects knowing that it is some of our best work!
As an Artisan Design Team hopeful, each blog hop participant submitted 10 projects to Stampin' Up! for the Artisan Design Team contest consisting of the following:
- 5 – Handmade Cards
- 3 – Scrapbook Pages
- 2 – 3D Projects
2013 Artisan Entry Blog Hop – Day 7
Today I'm featuring the 4th card of the five cards I created for the 2013 Artisan Design Team contest. This card has a very difinitive vintage feeling. I love the colors on this card combining the Basic Black with the Pool Party and Calypso Coral.
The card base is Basic Black cardstock layered with Very Vanilla cardstock. I love the First Edition Specialty Designer Paper that is now retired. For this card, I sponged it using Calypso Coral, Soft Suede, and More Mustard to give it an antique appearance. On the bottom third of the same layer with the First Edition Specialty is Basic Black cardstock embossed using the Fancy Fan Embossing Folder. To finish off these layers, I wrapped the Pool Party Baker's Twine around several times then threaded on a Vintage Faceted Designer Button and tied a bow which I further highlighted by stamping one of the circular images from the Collage Curios stamp set punched out using the 1" circular punch and layered onto a 1 1/4" scalloped circle piece of Calypso Coral cardstock.
For the next layers and elements, I created a flag using the Epic Day This and That Designer Series Paper with the Tea Lace paper Doily layer next. Then I stamped the Heartfelt image from the Layered Labels stamp set using Calypso Coral Ink and I stamped a second Heartfelt image using the Pool Party. I hand cut the Pool Party Heartfelt to layer on top of the Calypso Coral image.
The next steps took some extra planning to get the elements placed in a fashion to fit around the Basic Black rosette. First, I placed the rosette with the Boho Blossom punched flower and neutral brad onto the card. Second, I tucked the Designer Builder Brad with the stamped Fleur de lis image from the Itty Bitties stamp set just under the rosette and overlapping the scalloped circle. The final touches was to wrap the 5/8" Flower trim around the left edge of the rosette.
On the inside of the card, I place a layer of Very Vanilla cardstock with a stamped sentiment from the Loving Thoughts stamp set. The finishing touch on the inside was adding the 1 1/4" scalloped circle in Calypso Coral layered with another stamped circle and vintage floral image from the Collage Curios stamp set.
I invite you to pin any of my creations to Pinterest and to share your thoughts or questions by leaving me a comment. I love hearing from all my readers – word of mouth is one of the greatest forms of flattery.
